Whalentine's Day Bake Sale

Yes! Sea Shepherd NYC's annual(?) vegan bake sale is on its way!

Come on down, get some sweets for your sweetie (or yourself. or myself) and support Sea Shepherd's many amazing marine conservation campaigns (currently, Operation Divine Wind has our crew interfering with illegal whaling in the Southern Ocean (no whales killed yet this season!) while the Cove Guardians are in Taiji, Japan for the annual dolphin slaughter).

When: February 12, 2012 from 12:30 to 5:30 PM
Where: Mooshoes, 78 Orchard Street
Who: Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, NYC Chapter
RSVP: Facebook Event Page
Sign up to participate: Google Doc

We'll have plenty of merch and be happy to answer any questions you may have about our campaigns. They’re also the people to talk to if you want to become a member or sign up for the Direct Action Crew. Last year, Sea Shepherd cut the Japanese whaling fleet's quota by 80%. Let’s help them cut it by 100% this year. All while hanging out with fabulous people and eating delicious food.

The Boring Details:

MooShoes will be opening its doors to us at 12 PM to set up. If you are bringing food, supplies, etc. PLEASE arrive at the store by 12 PM. We will need time to set up the bake goods as well as our merchandise and literature table. Once you’ve dropped off your stuff, room might be tight, so please don’t hate us if we ask you to step outside until we’re ready for the shopping to begin. Weather permitting, we’ll have chalk on hand for people to write things like BAKE SALE FOR OCEAN CONSERVATION on the sidewalk.

LABELING: Please prepare a card or print out with the name of the baked goods you have prepared and a note of anything special about it (gluten free, soy free, nuts, etc.) Additionally, please label its container with the same information and attach a piece of paper with the ingredient list, including the ingredients of the products you used to make the baked goods. That includes either the name and type of your ingredients (e.g., Whole Foods Vegan Chocolate Chips, Earth Balance made with olive oil, etc.) or include the ingredients of that product.

CONTAINERS and UTENSILS: If you want your container back at the end of the bake sale, please label it with your name. If your baked good requires cutting, scooping, tonging, flipping, spatulating or anything else, please bring the appropriate utensils. Please label them if you want them back and please either pick up the containers and utensils around 5:30 PM or make arrangements for someone to pick them up for you.
Hope to see everyone there!
